Birkenhead Trams

Birkenhead had the first street tramway in Europe. The system was later electrified and operated from 1901 as Birkenhead Corporation Tramways. Two replica trams, imported from Hong Kong have been brought into service as part of a heritage tramway between Woodside and Wirral Transport Museum. Wirral Transport Museum & Heritage Tramway, though temporarily closed, efforts are underway to secure its long-term future as a key heritage asset.
