The company is reducing the frequency on its bus routes during the daytime, meaning there will be less services running each day and all tram services will be temporarily suspended until further notice from Sunday, March 29.
This will ensure that a ‘key worker’ bus transport service can be provided and the operator can use its resources to maximum effect.
The first and last bus times will remain the same to ensure key workers and those who have to travel for essential needs are still be able to do so.
The frequency of services is being reduced to help keep customers and staff safe, and the reduced service is a reflection of the lesser demand for services following the latest government guidance.
Service 1 will operate to a similar timetable as the tram and provide a suitable alternative to regular tram users, with the first and last departures being the same as tram services.
Jane Cole, Managing Director at Blackpool Transport said “I am very proud of the way the team at Blackpool Transport have continued to ensure that the region is supported by a comprehensive bus and tram service.”
“In the current circumstances it was inevitable that we would have to scale our service down. The transport that is available from Sunday will ensure that key workers and people who need to access essential services are able to do so by bus.”
“Timetables will be reviewed on a regular basis to take account of customer needs and our staff availability.”
New revised timetables are available online at www.blackpooltransport.com.
