UK Light Rail Conference rescheduled

The organisers of this year’s UK Light Rail Conference, due to take place on May 19 – 20, have rescheduled the event in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The conference is now planned for September 8 – 9 and, in an announcement this week, organisers Mainspring said the decision has been made to safeguard the best interests of exhibitors, visitors and staff and been fully-supported by key event partners.

The company’s Managing Director, Matt Johnston, explained: “We have taken this difficult decision promptly in order to ensure that the industry has the best opportunity to work through its current challenges and move forward.

“We are operating in an unprecedented and fast-moving environment and have been in active dialogue with many of our event partners in recent days. They firmly share our belief that it is in the best interests of all concerned to take decisive action now, so that everyone can plan accordingly and focus on immediate priorities.

“In considering the options regarding the rescheduling of the UK Light Rail Conference, we have looked at a number of factors such as likely length of Coronavirus-related impact, venue availability, the industry calendar and the seasonal dimension.

“By taking this approach in, what are, truly exceptional circumstances and with the continued positivity, support and commitment that supports the conference each year, we put ourselves in the best position to deliver the 2020 event in a way that matches the best needs of the industry, at a time in which we all need to work together and support each other.”
