Appointment further strengthens UK Tram board

A key appointment to the board of UK Tram brings a wealth of additional technical experience and expertise to the organisation representing the country’s light rail sector.

Lindsay Murphy was elected to the board during a recent annual general meeting, which also saw Chairman George Lowder and board member Iain Anderson re-elected.

A transport engineering specialist with over 30 years’ experience, Lindsay is a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has a proven track record in the delivery of major transport projects, from concept to operation.

During a distinguished career she’s led the maintenance delivery of the network extensions in Nottingham and, while working on this project and also at Manchester Metrolink, Lindsay developed real hands-on experience of  asset management and leading effective maintenance teams.

UK Tram Managing Director, James Hammett, commented: “Lindsay’s vast experience and enthusiasm will further strengthen our board as we build an ever more effective voice for the light rail sector.

“We’ll continue to draw upon the wealth of talent within the industry as we strive to promote light rail as an effective, environmentally friendly way to meet the urban transport challenges of cities across the UK.”

On her appointment, Lindsay added: “Alongside a desire to further improve standards within the industry, I’m passionate about developing recognition within the sector of the advantages of a collaborative approach to the management of both operations and maintenance.”
