Global Light Rail Awards 2026 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2026 Global Light Rail Awards has been revealed, recognising the people, projects and organisations making an impact across the international light rail sector – with UKTram among those shortlisted.

Organised by Mainspring, the annual awards celebrate excellence and achievement across light rail, with this year attracting the highest number of entries to date. Judges have been impressed by the calibre, creativity and achievements demonstrated across the submissions.

UKTram is delighted to be among the organisations shortlisted for an award this year, which also features many UKTram members and partners, with organisations represented across categories recognising engineering, sustainability, safety, innovation, customer experience and individual achievement.

UKTram is continuing its support for the awards this year as sponsor of both the Rising Star and UK Operator of the Year categories. Rising Star recognises emerging talent making an impact within light rail, while UK Operator of the Year celebrates excellence among the organisations responsible for operating the country’s tram and light rail networks.

The announcement comes as Mainspring confirms that the 2026 Global Light Rail Awards has officially sold out in record time. The ceremony will take place on 7th October at Battersea Arts Centre in London, bringing shortlisted finalists and industry colleagues together for an evening celebrating achievements across the sector.
