Graham Fitzgerald appointed Chair, with Trevor Stocker stepping in as Vice Chair
UKTram has announced new leadership for its Light Rail Operations Committee (LROC), following the recent decision by Steve Mabey to step down from his role as Chair.
Steve has played a key role in leading the committee over recent years, supporting open discussion and shared learning across light rail operations. His contribution has been widely recognised across the sector, and UKTram extends its thanks for his leadership and commitment.
Taking on the role of Chair is Graham Fitzgerald, who has been an active member of LROC since 2019 and previously served as Vice Chair from 2023. Graham is currently LUAS Duty Operations and Control Room Manager (OCC) at Transdev Ireland, where he leads operational delivery across the LUAS network. His experience spans incident management, safety-critical communications, customer experience and service delivery, alongside responsibility for managing a large operational workforce.

Reflecting on his appointment, Graham said:
“I am absolutely delighted to be announced as the new Chairperson of the UKTram Light Rail Operations Committee. I am very proud and honoured that this has been made official.
“I have learned a great deal from Steve Mabey, who has been a fantastic leader and friend over the last number of years, and I hope to continue his great work. Thanks also to my colleagues at Transdev Ireland and LUAS who allow me to contribute as part of UKTram and its extended team.”
Graham brings a strong operational background to the role, with experience in both the private sector and military, alongside a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
Stepping into the role of Vice Chair is Trevor Stocker, Head of Service Delivery at Supertram. Trevor is a senior operations and safety leader with more than 20 years’ experience across operations and resource planning.
Trevor has a proven track record in leading large operational teams and supporting the development of data-driven approaches to safety and performance across light rail systems.
Reflecting on his appointment:
"I have been attending LROC for nearly 10 years and have always appreciated the community, collaboration and comradery. As I have progressed in my career, I have taken great pride in the wider contributions we can make outside of our "home" networks to raise the profile of and improve what we deliver for our customers and grow the industry.

I have benefitted from the immense experience of others in LROC and have appreciated their warmth and willingness to support each other. From my first meetings attending with Mike Mabey, to our outgoing Chair Steve, who have provided inspiration and guidance, that I can continue with as I progress into the role of Vice Chair. I am looking forward to working with Graham and the rest of the UKTram team to continue to build the LROC group."
The Light Rail Operations Committee plays a key role within UKTram, providing a forum for operators to share experience and support improvements across the sector. With new leadership in place, the committee will continue to build on its strong foundation, supporting collaboration and operational excellence across UK and Ireland light rail.
