Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life is recruiting a Tramway & Historic Engineering Technician to support the operation and maintenance of its heritage tramway and engineering exhibits. The permanent, full-time role offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of one of Scotland’s leading industrial heritage sites.
Based in Coatbridge and working across North Lanarkshire Council’s museum estate, the role will involve a wide range of responsibilities, including ensuring the safe operation of the tramway, maintaining historic vehicles and supporting the upkeep of engineering displays. The successful candidate will bring strong technical skills, a proactive approach to health and safety, and an ability to work closely with volunteers and colleagues.
The position offers the chance to contribute to the preservation and operation of historic transport assets, combining hands-on engineering with public engagement in a live museum environment. The role includes weekend working as part of a shift pattern and offers a competitive salary alongside a wider local authority benefits package.
