UKTram is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with Women in Transport for a third consecutive year, reaffirming our shared commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion across the sector.

The collaboration, first established in 2023, has helped raise awareness of the importance of gender diversity within transport and opened up new opportunities for learning, mentoring and visibility for professionals across the industry.

This year, UKTram has doubled the number of members registered under its Corporate Partnership with Women in Transport, offering even more individuals the opportunity to attend events, access professional development, and connect with a supportive community for women and allies in light rail.

Reflecting on the continued partnership, James Hammett, Managing Director of UKTram, said:

“Renewing our partnership with Women in Transport for a third year reflects our deep commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion across the light rail sector. The collaboration continues to bring real value not only to UKTram but also to our wider industry, and we’re especially pleased to have doubled the number of members now signed up to benefit from this partnership. We’re proud to support Women in Transport’s vital work in making our sector more inclusive and representative.”

Women in Transport is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advancing women’s careers and raising the profile of diversity in transport through networking, mentoring and advocacy. Commenting on the renewed partnership, their CEO, Sonya Byers, said:

“We truly value our strong relationship with UKTram and are thrilled to continue working together. Since the beginning of our partnership in 2023, their unwavering support has been instrumental in helping us raise awareness and visibility of the work that Women in Transport does. I’m grateful to James Hammett and his brilliant team for helping us promote greater inclusivity across the light rail sector. We look forward to building on this momentum and driving positive change together.”

As the representative body for the UK’s light rail and tram industry, UKTram remains committed to building a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve. We’re proud to continue working in partnership with Women in Transport to help drive that progress forward.
