UKTram has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rail Forum, marking a significant step forward in strengthening collaboration across the wider transport sector.

The agreement was formalised at the Rail Forum Annual General Meeting, held at Derbyshire Cricket Club on the 15th July, where UKTram Managing Director James Hammett joined industry colleagues for an afternoon of networking, sector updates and insight.

As part of the AGM agenda, Rail Forum's Cat Appleby also addressed Rail Forum members, highlighting the shared goals of both organisations and the importance of aligning efforts in areas such as innovation, workforce development and standards.

James Hammett, Managing Director at UKTram, commented:

"We’re delighted to formalise our partnership with the Rail Forum. This MoU provides a valuable framework for knowledge sharing and collective progress across both rail and light rail. This partnership also provides another valuable platform for connecting our members with fresh insight and collaboration opportunities."

Elaine Clark, CEO, Rail Forum, said:

“We are delighted to be working with James and the team at UKTram, with joint objectives to collaborate on projects and policy, raising the profile of both light rail and the supply chain. Rail Forum members are the beating heart of the rail supply chain, with the ability to support UKTram and its operator members — particularly through innovation that addresses operational challenges.
“We look forward to exploring how members’ capabilities can be leveraged to deliver real impact and welcome the involvement of the UKTram executive team and its members in key events. "Our joint event in Leeds on 5th November will further enhance supply chain understanding and foster stronger communication between members of both organisations.”

UKTram looks forward to building on this agreement in the months ahead, contributing to joint initiatives that support sector resilience and drive long-term improvement across the rail sector.
