UKTram will be attending the Leadership in Passenger Transport Awards (LiPTA) this week, celebrating the people whose leadership, expertise and commitment continue to strengthen passenger transport across the UK.

The awards recognise outstanding achievement across bus, coach, rail and light rail, highlighting the individuals who are driving improvements in planning, operations and project delivery while helping to raise standards across the industry.

As part of the presentation ceremony, UKTram Operations Manager Steve Duckering will present the award for Infrastructure & Project Management, recognising excellence in one of the sectors' most important disciplines.

Organised by the Transport Events Group (TEG), the awards have been established to celebrate leadership, encourage lifelong learning and promote passenger transport as a rewarding and attractive career. They also provide an opportunity to recognise the people whose work often takes place behind the scenes but has a lasting impact on the services communities rely on every day.

The light rail sector is well represented among this year's finalists. Blackpool Transport has received multiple nominations, with Hayley Gregory shortlisted in both the Digital Communication and Marketing & PR categories, Jamie Swift recognised in the Innovation & New Thinking category, and the organisation's Sales Team shortlisted for the Team Management Award. Carly Swift, Marketing and Communications Manager at LRSSB, has also been shortlisted in the Digital Communication category.

Commenting ahead of the event, Steve Duckering said:

"Recognising the people behind projects is an important part of supporting the transport sector. It's great to be representing UKTram at the awards and look forward to celebrating with this year's finalists."

As a Stakeholder for the event, UKTram wishes every finalist the very best of luck and looks forward to celebrating their achievements at the awards ceremony on the 16th of July.
