Building on discussions from the most recent Centre of Excellence (CoE) meeting, UKTram has further strengthened engagement with the British Standards Institution (BSI) by attending the Innovation Management Summit 2025, held on Wednesday 8th October at London’s Science Museum.
Representing UKTram, Lead Engineer Phill Terry joined delegates from across industry, academia and government for a full day of insight into innovation policy and practice, with a particular focus on the implementation of ISO 56001, the new international standard for innovation management systems.
The event covered leadership, change management, capability development and real-world case studies from organisations already adopting the new approach.
The summit followed recent discussions on strengthening representation within the standards development process, helping to ensure that light rail expertise and operational insight are reflected within future standards, particularly as innovation plays a vital role in safety, sustainability and system development.
As part of its wider strategy, we will continue to work with BSI and CoE members to encourage active engagement with standardisation groups and ensure the sector remains aligned with national and international best practice in innovation management.
