Held at UKTram’s offices on Summer Lane, the two-day strategy session provided an opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s growth, revise the mission statement and explore how UKTram can continue to respond to the evolving needs of the sector.

The discussions focused on member value and long-term sector support, with participants considering how UKTram can continue to strengthen its role within an increasingly connected and developing light rail landscape.

A key theme throughout the session was ensuring that UKTram remains proactive and member-focused in its approach, while continuing to support knowledge sharing and engagement across the industry.

The strategy discussions also explored future opportunities in sector collaboration, scheme development support and improving access to shared insights and resources. Bringing together Board members and the wider team, the session created space for open discussion around priorities, delivery and the challenges facing the sector over the coming years.

The event also reinforced the importance of UKTram’s core values: integrity, collaboration, innovation and proactive working, as the organisation continues to grow alongside the wider industry.

Reflecting on the session, UKTram Managing Director James Hammett said:

“It was a really valuable couple of days and a good opportunity to step back and look carefully at where UKTram and the wider sector are heading, how we continue to develop and and most importantly, how we can continue supporting our members.’ There was a strong focus throughout on collaboration and practical delivery, which is how the organisation and the wider sector work best.”

The outcomes of the strategy sessions will help inform UKTram’s ongoing planning and future direction, including the continued development of its long-term vision for the sector.
