UKTram has reaffirmed its support for Women in Transport following the organisation's Annual General Meeting, held online on Wednesday, 9th June. The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on the organisation's achievements over the past year and celebrate the growing impact of its work across the transport sector.

Now in its fourth year of partnership with Women in Transport, UKTram continues to support the organisation's mission to create a more diverse, inclusive and representative industry.

The meeting highlighted a range of initiatives designed to support transport professionals at all stages of their careers, including professional development programmes, mentoring opportunities and regional networking events.

Women in Transport's events programme is centred around four key themes: workplace equity, women's safety, health and wellbeing and integrated transport.

Among the programmes highlighted was the organisation's Advance Mentoring Programme, which has now entered its ninth year and currently supports 52 mentoring partnerships across the industry. The programme provides personalised mentoring and peer support, helping participants build confidence, develop professionally and expand their industry networks.

UKTram Digital Marketing and Communications Manager, Chelsea Branch, is among this year's participants.

Chelsea said:

"I've taken so much from the mentoring programme already. If I look back to where I was when I first started compared with where I am now, I feel far more connected to the sector and much more confident in myself.
"The opportunity to learn from an experienced professional and gain new perspectives has been so valuable. It's easy to see why the programme continues to have such a positive impact on so many people across transport."

The AGM also celebrated the success of Women in Transport's Lead Development Programme, which has supported more than 200 women from over 60 organisations and achieved a 100 per cent recommendation rate from participants.

Updates were also provided on the organisation's work to influence the industry to decarbonise, inspire the next generation, challenge gender and cultural barriers to progression and support women’s safety

The meeting comes as Women in Transport approaches the tenth anniversary of its All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), which was successfully re-established following the General Election and continues to champion issues including gender equity, workplace safety and health and wellbeing.

"Women in Transport continues to do fantastic work creating opportunities for people to connect, develop and progress within the industry. The mentoring programme has become an important part of supporting future talent and it's been fantastic to see the positive impact it has had on Chelsea and so many others.
