UKTram was among the organisations invited to Mott MacDonald’s Urban Transit & Mobility Forum 2025, which took place in Dublin at the Aloft on Thursday, 11th September.

The event brought together Mott Macdonald’s experts from across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific to share insights on projects and innovations shaping the future of urban transport. The agenda featured a mix of international presentations, technical sessions and interactive workshops, alongside networking opportunities and panel discussions.

Steve Duckering, Operations Manager at UKTram, attended the event and highlighted the breadth of expertise on display. He commented:

“A special mention to Annette Smith for her presentation on Urban Transit & Mobility FUTURES. It was thought-provoking and demonstrated the wider scope of Mott MacDonald’s offering in the transport planning world. It was also really valuable to see the range of global projects they are involved in.”

As part of the programme, Steve contributed to the Lessons Learnt workshop, which focused on the challenges repeatedly faced by urban transit projects and the opportunities to improve future delivery. The session encouraged open discussion on how the sector can refine its systems and approaches, drawing on shared experience across multiple schemes.

The forum also included case studies and insights into emerging areas such as autonomous bus operations, underground transit planning, along with digital asset management. Closing with an international panel on the future of the sector, the event underlined the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration in driving forward innovation across the sector.

UKTram would like to thank Mott MacDonald for the invitation to take part in the forum and for sharing such a valuable overview of their global expertise in urban transit and mobility.
