UKTram & LRSSB Summit 2026 sells out ahead of packed programme

The UKTram & Light Rail Safety & Standards Board (LRSSB) Summit 2026 has officially sold out, with delegates from across the light rail sector set to gather in Birmingham for another year. Taking place on Wednesday, 16th September at IET Birmingham: Austin Court, this year's Summit is centred around the theme 'Smarter Systems, Stronger Networks', exploring how collaboration and shared learning continue to shape the sector’s journey. 

The programme brings together speakers from across the industry, academia and beyond and aims to reflect the expertise and insights driving the sector forward.  Sessions will cover decarbonisation, passenger safety, research and innovation, customer experience, safeguarding, reporting culture and infrastructure modernisation.

Delegates will hear from Stephen Edwards, Chair of UKTram, alongside James Hammett, Managing Director of UKTram, Carl Williams, Chief Executive of LRSSB, Louise Thornton from Railway Children, Leo Murray, Co-Founder of Riding Sunbeams, Amy Watson, Founder of HASSL (Harassment Awareness and Safe Space Leaders), Paul Allen from the University of Huddersfield, representatives from KeolisAmey Docklands and Nottingham Trams, and David Fielder from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT).

Designed to keep the day engaging and interactive, the Summit features concise presentation sessions, allowing delegates to hear a range of perspectives while allowing plenty of time for networking and discussion throughout the day. The programme concludes with an evening reception at The Malt House, providing a further opportunity for delegates to connect with colleagues.

This year's Summit will also support Railway Children, with proceeds from ticket sales helping the charity continue its vital work protecting vulnerable children and young people. Delegates will also hear directly from the charity during the programme, about the role the transport sector can play in safeguarding those at risk.
