Global specialist in vibration and noise reduction joins UKTram membership

UKTram welcomes Getzner as a new member, adding technical expertise to our expanding community supporting light rail development and operations. As a global specialist in vibration-isolation solutions for railway, construction, and industrial applications, Getzner has more than 50 years of research and experience. The company works to reduce vibration and noise while improving system performance and extending the service life of infrastructure components.

These solutions enhance network reliability and passenger comfort while minimizing the impact of rail infrastructure on nearby communities. With the UK Government’s recent investment in light rail, Getzner sees greater opportunities to apply its vibration mitigation expertise as new systems are developed.

Andy Moore, Area Sales Manager at Getzner, stated that his focus is on ensuring future light rail developments operate in harmony with their environment, noting that implementing floating slab track systems, also known as mass–spring systems, can protect vibration-sensitive buildings, equipment and residents while supporting rail infrastructure growth.

Andy also highlighted the broader challenges facing modern infrastructure as technology and transport systems expand:

“Noise and vibration are increasingly present in today’s environment as rail traffic, industry and infrastructure continue to grow. Vibrations are often underestimated, yet they can affect people, buildings and technical systems by increasing wear and reducing service life. This is why Getzner is committed to working towards a quieter and more sustainable future."

By joining UKTram, Getzner aims to engage with professionals across the light rail sector, share knowledge, and support the development of sustainable, integrated transport systems.

Andy added that membership offers opportunities to contribute to sector discussions and learn through collaboration with other members.

Getzner’s membership underscores the ongoing importance of engineering innovation in delivering high-performing, environmentally sensitive light rail systems. UKTram looks forward to working with Getzner and supporting knowledge exchange throughout the sector.
