UKTram has added two new Best Practice Guidance documents to its member resource library, developed by the Light Rail Engineers Group (LREG). These new documents share experience and insight from across the sector, helping members exchange knowledge and learn from operational best practice.
The new guidance covers:
Embedded Track Renewals:- This document examines how modern methods for embedded track renewals can reduce disruption, boost efficiency, and support long-term asset management. It draws on industry experience and discussions within the Light Rail Engineers Group to highlight new techniques such as modular construction, systems engineering and whole-life design.
Lifts and Escalators – Procurement for Reliability and Maintenance:- This guidance focuses on reliability, asset management, and procurement. It offers practical advice to help operators plan, maintain and renew lifts and escalators more effectively. Topics include maintenance strategies, lifecycle planning, procurement and lessons from infrastructure projects.
The Best Practice Guidance series is part of our commitment to working together in the light rail sector. It captures operational and technical experience and makes this knowledge available to members.
Both documents can now be accessed via the UKTram Members Hub.
